- Someone who is not signed in can send you a ready-made message only. Free text is possible only if they sign in and you have allowed it.
What if someone else adds my plate?
Once your plate is on your account, nobody else can add it. A second attempt on the same plate is refused, so the plate cannot be held twice.
Open that plate page and use Report, choosing the false claim reason. The Plink team reviews it, and when the claim is removed the plate is free for you to add.
You send one photo taken on the spot, showing your plate and an open door of the car, and a person at Plink reviews it. It unlocks your contact links and the verified badge. It is not what keeps others off your plate: being first is.
The QR card behind your windscreen
A small card you keep behind the windscreen. Anyone who needs to tell you something about the car scans it with their phone camera.
No app, no typing
Scanning opens a short page with a fixed list of reasons, such as lights left on, a window left open, or a blocked entrance. There is no free text box, so nobody can write you whatever they like.
Free for the driver
You pay nothing for the card, and the messages that reach you through it are free. You do not even need an account to start receiving them.
Whoever scans it stays anonymous
They give no name, no number and no account, and you never see who they are. You see the reason and the time it arrived, nothing more.
If you lose the card
Print the same QR again from Plink and carry on. If you think the card is being used somewhere it should not be, pause it and take a new QR: the old one stops working for good.
If you sell the car
Take the card off the windscreen and stop it in Plink, so messages about a car you no longer own stop reaching you. A card is not handed over with the car: the new owner takes their own.
